PCP condemns arrest of Bangladeshi photojournalists

The Photojournalists’ Center of the Philippines, Inc. condemns the attacks on photojournalists who are covering student protests in Bangladesh.

The PCP calls for the immediate release of photographer Shahidul Alam, founder of Drik Picture Library, who was taken from his home on Sunday.

Shahidul Alam, who has been known around the world for his contribution to photojournalism, is being accused of making "provocative statements" against the government.

We call on the government of Bangladesh to safeguard free speech in the country, to uphold press freedom, and end the harassment and attacks on media practitioners.
