Lerma, a member of the organization for more a than decade now, has also won the award for Excellence in News Photography for his photo titled “Lamentation” which shows a woman cradling her partner’s lifeless body, a victim of an apparent vigilante killing brought about by the government’s war on drugs.
The same photo also gave him a silver medal for Photography-Breaking News from the Society for News Design in February this year. It is really a big deal to receive such an honour when the competition is neck to neck and the competitors too good to be compared.
Congratulations and keep achieving many other accolades in the future.
PCP also extends its greetings to other Filipino journalists recognized by SOPA.
